Remedial Massage
Remedial massage is a targeted treatment to address pain, tension, and injuries in muscles, tendons, and connective tissues. Unlike a relaxation massage, it focuses on identifying the underlying cause of discomfort and using specific techniques to promote healing.
This type of massage is ideal for:
- Injury recovery & prevention
- Reducing muscle tightness & pain
- Improving mobility & flexibility
- Enhancing sports performance
Techniques may include deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, and stretching, all tailored to suit your body’s needs

Cupping
Cupping therapy is an ancient technique that involves placing suction cups on the skin to increase blood flow, loosen fascia, and release muscle tension. The suction creates a negative pressure effect, which can help:
- Improve circulation
- Relieve deep muscle tightness & knots
- Accelerate recovery & reduce inflammation
- Break up scar tissue & adhesions
Cupping is often combined with remedial massage to enhance its benefits, making it a powerful tool for muscle recovery and pain relief.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Remedial Massage Therapy (RMT) and other forms of massage?
RMT focuses on treating specific injuries, muscular issues, or pain. We tend to use RMT as part of a treatment plan for muscle soreness and chronic pain. For those who play sport, RMT can be great for injury prevention and can enhance performance. The goal is to promote healing, restore function, and improve mobility.
What should I expect at my first RMT appointment?
When getting RMT for the first time, you will be asked to fill out an online health history form. This helps us know any medical conditions you may have, and which RMT techniques may be best for you.
Your therapist will spend the first 5 – 10 min going over and better understanding your goals, to determine a tailored plan that will help you achieve those goals.
How often should I get RMT?
This depends on your goals and needs.
For someone who has never had RMT before, we recommend weekly sessions for the first four weeks. Then, we can reassess and see how you’re going.
If we’re on track to helping you achieve your goals, then moving on to a fortnightly, monthly or 6-weekly maintenance schedule will be the next step – what ever works best for you!
Should RMT be painful?
There may be times when the intensity of RMT may cause some discomfort. At no point should this be more than what one can tolerate, so it’s important to let your therapist know when the pressure is getting too intense.
This discomfort is due to applying pressure on a point in the muscle where there is a build up of tension. Your therapist will need to use certain force and techniques to help break up the tension and relieve the pain.
What should I expect after my RMT appointment?
It is completely normal to experience post massage soreness 24 – 48 hrs after a session. Don’t panic! This is just the massage working its magic, the soreness you feel will go away.
Always listen to your therapist’s instructions. We will often show you stretches and exercises that can help with the pain between sessions.
You should always reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Where's the best place to park?
For our Norwest clinic: The most convenient place to park is Norwest Marketown, which is just a 5 minute/400m walk to our clinic. This provides ample parking space and easy access to our facilities.
For our Dural Clinic: We have onsite parking available. However, if the guest parking spaces are full, there’s an overflow carpark next door at 254 New Line Road. This alternative is only a short 2 minute/150m walk to our clinic.
Always allow a few extra minutes for parking before your appointment to ensure you arrive relaxed and on time.
